Carbonology Attends HSBC China Symposium
September 2026
Robin Ren, Founder and Chairman of Carbonology, and Andrew Zhang, Co‑Founder and General Manager, were invited to HSBC’s 13th China Symposium held in Shenzhen. They exchanged insights on climate‑tech innovation and green opportunities across China’s market with global investors and industry experts.

As HSBC’s flagship annual gathering for global investors, the symposium drew more than 1,500 investors, business leaders and policymakers, alongside over 50 featured speakers. Discussions spanned the global economic outlook, monetary policy, international trade, investment trends and cutting‑edge technologies, covering sectors including technology, energy and chemicals. In his opening remarks, Liao Yijian, Co‑Chief Executive for Asia and the Middle East at HSBC, noted that China has emerged as a major driver of global innovation and technology. Hosting the event in Shenzhen was designed to give international investors first‑hand exposure to China’s market potential and innovative dynamism.
Day one focused on financial infrastructure and climate‑tech innovation. Interactive panel sessions delivered actionable industry insights and practical implementation strategies for attendees. Robin Ren took part in the climate‑tech innovation showcase, joining fellow climate‑tech founders to present their technical pathways and real‑world commercial learnings.
Centered on carbon source substitution, Robin outlined Carbonology’s corporate vision and core technology roadmap. Leveraging direct air capture (DAC), direct renewable‑power integration and AI‑driven flexible processes, Carbonology produces carbon‑based products using CO₂ captured directly from ambient air, offering the world an alternative to petroleum.
Founded in October 2024, Carbonology has laid out its clear “Accelerator” roadmap:
2025: Completion of its 100‑tonne pilot facility in Lingang, Shanghai
2026: Launch of its 1,000‑tonne‑scale demonstration base in Ningxia for industrial scale‑up validation
2027: Kick‑off of the world’s first 10,000‑tonne‑capacity commercial e‑SAF project, spearheading the global air‑to‑fuels sector
With a China‑rooted, globally‑oriented strategy, Carbonology aims to bring zero‑carbon fuels developed at China‑speed to serve the global aviation industry.
